Erm, Rajdeep....

Whilst the new look is great, the fast swapping of the "coming up" means that...

A)  you cant actually get to read it

and

B)  that because the box depths are different sizes its constantly moving up and down the screen and therefore makes clicking on any of the category links EXTREMELY HARD!!

but keep up the good work  ;)

I can't get back to the main Preston Photographic Society page any more - not so much a problem for me, but it might confuse prospective new members when checking out our sight!

Thanks everyone. I'll slow down the display to what it was earlier. Do let me know if it is too slow, Craig & Paul. The box size issue is to do with the forum software and was a problem even before the update. I'll look for a fix, but until then, I'll try and pad the items out with white space.

Sally, regarding the link to the main site, I'll have to ask Colin or Andy. That was a bit of a surprise to me too. I am told though that the new site should be online in not too long.

Btw, I've added an RSS feed to the blog from the forum, so people can see the posts and be tempted to visit the forum. That's how I came across the ARGGGGG post today.

I started work on the update after midnight last night and got it all in shape by around 5 a.m. Right now, I'm just glad I didn't crash the forum altogether. The rest will be gradual changes over time and features added as I learn more about the software.

Other than the forum looking different and clearly not totally compatible with IE6 that I have at work, can I ask what the benefits are of the new version of the forum?

That's IE6 for you.

I'm amazed anyone still uses that version, even in the workplace. You really need to get them to update to at least IE7 m8, lol...

Apparently we're dragging ourselves in to the 21st century by the end of this year and moving from windows XP to Vista. Hopefully an upgrade to IE will come as part of that.

We make highly complex military aircraft and futuristic unmanned aircraft.......on 5 year old computers with 10 year old software!!!!!

They'll probably go to IE8 anyway in the upgrade.

One thing I have noticed is that there no longer seems to be a link back to the rest of the society website, once in the forum you're stuck here.
Is that intentional or just  glitch?

Like the new format though Rajdeep :-)

Cheers, Craig! It is certainly a glitch. I'll ask Colin how he had integrated the 2 bits earlier.

On the SMF site, click on CUSTOMIZE, then THEMES, then search for DARK.

Hi Paul,

What is happening is that I cannot see the options on the admin page, just blank placeholders. On top of that, when I try changing the theme, it just stays the same. I've got rid of the parse error by editing the Compat.template.php.

It's arggggg for me now. Lol!

I'll try the customize...
