It certainly does Paul.  I use to live in Arnside and have been visiting the area since 1986 and it's a hell of a place when the bore is ripping in.

It's a terrific location for sunsets, but be warned, the incoming tide can TRAP you against the rock face very quickly. Around Silverdale & Arnside, the tide rises at (I believe it's) the 5th fastest inlets in the UK mainland.

Photo Forum / Sunset over Silverdale, Lancashire

Craig put a message out on the forum requesting company on a seascape shoot on last Weds (1st Sept 2010) and I duly responded.

I suggested that we drive upto Silverdale for it possesses the only two cliffs in the whole of Lancashire.  We arrived at Jenny Brown's Point at around 6.15pm and promptly glided around the soft sandy beach in the pursuit of some great compositions.  We stayed until around 8.30pm after which we vowed to return once again in the near future for the area promises much.  A gorgeous sunset played out before our very eyes and we was rewarded with some great opportunities to capture something very pleasing to the eye.

See the shots that I captured below and leave any comments if you see fancy.

Cheers Melvin

Thanks Mick, though it would be hard to display at a full pano size at the club unless printed large, and that'd cost a bomb!

Hi Rob, yes I think we will do a PPS tutorial for this. If enough people would like to know how we can do it as a mini session, or alternatively it could be the basis of another PPS video.

Stunning shot, Paul, and the detail is quite staggering. I'm sure we'll see that later on this club year!

I do a similar thing to the photographer Rob linked to. It's a couple of layers in photoshop - one is a strip of black at 45-50% opacity and then there is text over the top. Again at 45-50% opacity. This could be automated through Photoshop's actions. If you wanted to add it to a folder of files you could create a droplet on your desktop (a droplet is a small icon which runs a photoshop action from your desktop) which would make the process quick and painless.

Hope that helps.
