Hovers?
« on: April 22, 2009, 11:24:35 PM »
Had a go at doing some macro's of some insects last weekend, I think they are all hovers but I am sure Paul will correct me if I am wrong, probably am. It is my first real go at taking this sort of close up so I have still got a lot to learn.  Comments welcome along with advice on reducing the noise and whether I should be using flash.

There are a lot of hovers around atm, but I am unsure as to whether these are young worker bees.

Avoid flash at all costs on bright/white flowers!

Use Noise Ninja or Imagenonic's Noiseware Pro to reduce the noise in pics taken at 400 or above.

Now that last one IS a hoverfly.

I think you'll find it is the Eristalis pertinax
