Interesting to do it via Zoom and I certainly appreciated not having to drive to Worsley on a wet saturday night like last year. There were many lovely images and none of ours looked out of place. As always the judge had his own favourites and Chorley were worthy winners. On Zoom, many of the images looked a little soft (on my screen at least) but they don’t look that way on the website referred to below.
A slide show of all the images (ie 4 per club) is available on the LCPU website at h

We finished 22nd with 6 points, the winners being Chorley with 20 points.
Competition
- Knockout over 6 rounds (number of rounds decided on the night depending on how ruthless the judge is) with images eliminated at each stage.
- Clubs submit 8 images with the last one being a tiebreaker. The number actually used varies depending on the volume of clubs. This year there was a big entry of 41 clubs so only the first 4 were used ie a total of 164 images.
- Images eliminated in R1 score 1, R2 score 2 and so on. A winner was selected from R6 and that image alone got the top score of 7 points.
- New work only from current club members, ie no previous entry to any LCPU competition.
- The first 4 images for each Club have to be from different photographers and no more than 2 images from anyone in total.
Our images
- Drawn from this year’s first and second monthly and last year’s sixth monthly competitions.
- Images from 8 different members were submitted. Images from Paul Yates, Andy Phillips, Robert Turley and Ann Edwards were used. Images from Iain Jack, Dave Duxbury, Ian McGill and myself didn’t get used.
Results
- Round 1 - 88 images eliminated, 2 of ours.
- Round 2 - 34 images eliminated, 2 of ours.
- Round 3 - 15 images eliminated.
- Round 4 - 8 images eliminated.
- Round 5 - 6 images eliminated.
- Round 6 - overall winning image was selected from the 13 remaining.
Consequently we scored 6 ie (1+1+2+2).
Our 2 images which made it through to R2 were:
- Zanthy with a floral headdress by Robert Turley
- Brief encounter by Ann Edwards
